The Macabre Manifesto
1. Haunting Introduction
Greetings and welcome to Medically Macabre. Our designs aren't just for lovers of the macabre, they're a celebration of the beauty in disability, and a defiant rejection of ableist norms.
2. Our Dark Origin
I was born with a rare progressive genetic disease called Stickler Syndrome and it has shaped how I navigate life and has shaped my artistic visions. My hearing dances on the edge of silence, my spine curves like a crescent moon. The fragility of my skin is a reminder that beauty can exist in vulnerability, and my dysautonomia shows that even when the world feels unsteady, we can find strength in our passions. The frequent trips to the hospital crafted it into my home away from home, even though it was an eerie dwelling I got used to it, the macabre became a part of my day to day life.
On top of my daily life being filled with the medically macabre since I was a child, I was always most drawn to people in alternative subcultures. I saw people with body modifications and alternative clothing as some of the most beautiful people on earth. I wanted to be that when I grew up, the punks and goths were my inspiration. I remember in elementary school my adopted mother received a call from my daycare stating they were concerned about how many skulls and black clothing I was wearing, my mom responded with how I “liked unique things and there was nothing wrong with being different” Being disabled since birth and alternative since I was a child I invite you to join me in a celebration of resistance, creativity, and unapologetic self-expression.
3. Our Sinister Mission
To show beauty in the darker or unconventional aspects of life.
To be a movement for those who refuse to be silenced or sidelined.
To stand as a defiant rejection of ableist norms
To let it be known: our existence is an act of rebellion.
To have a commitment to the unconventional.
To amplify the voices of the disabled and alternative communities.
4. Our Vision of the Future
We want to always be adapting and growing alongside the needs and desires of the alternative disabled community. We want to be a part of the future of adaptive fashion.
5. Honoring the Legacy
Alternative subcultures have long been a canvas for ideology, politics, music and fashion and each scene tells a narrative of rebellion, individuality, and the act of challenging the norms of mainstream society. Our brand is here to honor that legacy. Fashion is not merely about aesthetics; it is a powerful form of communication. It’s a way for us to showcase our beliefs, advocate for change and connect with like-minded souls
